Description
‘Something Old Something New’ is the second album of Irish harper Fiana Ní Chonaill, who hails from Castleconnell, Co. Limerick. The album weaves together established traditional tunes with newly composed music, reflecting a deep respect for the tradition while allowing space for personal voice and contemporary creativity. The recording also highlights collaboration, featuring contributions from a number of guest musicians, including Alan Reid – Bouzouki & Bodhrán, Malcolm Bushby – Violin, Denise Kennedy – Piano and Úna Heaney – Violin, Viola & Cello, whose playing adds depth and texture throughout the album.
Recorded, Mixed, and Mastered by Jack Talty in Raelach Studios, Cloonselherny, Co. Clare, the project extends beyond sound into the visual realm. Contemporary Irish artist Meadhbh Ní Eidhin created individual artworks inspired by each of Fiana’s newly composed tunes, adding an evocative visual dimension to the music. Crafted with care, warmth, and imagination, Something Old Something New offers a thoughtful exploration of continuity, creativity, and collaboration within the living tradition.
